In a previous version of Internet Referee the installer had a debug flag on which posted the messages Hello, Hello 1, ... during the installation.

Thank you for pointing this out community. There is a new version uploaded which removes these annoying, but harmless, messages.

Vista Support, White List expanded keystrokes

Version 1.1.10312007 is available for download. If you are new to Internet Referee please feel free to download it and try it. If you are a current user go to the control panel of Internet Referee and press the 'update' button.

In this release Vista installation is support as well as a 'white list' feature.

The white list is used to limit the user to only certain websites, any other sites will be blocked. This is use full if you have small children and do not want them to accidentally go to other sites.

An expanded keystroke window was added to aid in viewing users keystrokes. When viewing keystrokes mouse over the keystroke row and left click. A window with all keystrokes will appear which is easier to read and print.

These features were added because of feedback from our users. As always thank you for suggestions.

Please please, when will the Mac version of this be available??

There isn't much out there for Mac's and many homes have them for the kids, as they are compatible with the computers at school.

Windows 2000

Problem:

On some Windows 2000 machines the install fails with a 'installer version too small error'

Solution:

Update the windows 2000 installer package from Microsoft. Search for 'windows 2000 installer update msdn' to find free download from Microsoft.

Frequency:

This problem only occurs old workstations running Windows 2000 that haven't been applying Microsoft updates.

Free Version Capabilities Expanded

An updated version of IR was posted 6/6/2007. This version allows Free version users to evaluate the advanced setting options that are available in the registered version. A free version user may use this feature in order to configure features such as word lists, inappropriate websites, and other configurations.

If you have already installed a version of IR please press the 'update' button and you will be automatically updated.

Blocking Inappropriate search terms

Ron,

Is there away to block inappropriate search terms from displaying results? I know google offers the SafeSearch filtering but this is for other search engine sites. If IR can not do this what steps would you recommend. Also, where can I get an updated list for inappropriate sites? I would hate to have to manually enter sites that would be outdated as soon as I finished typing.

Error in inappropriate word list

Problem:

The inappropriate word list gets corrupted during install.

Solution:

Press the update button to receive the latest update. A new button will appear on the Inappropriate Word List control panel. It is used to clear the inappropriate word data base. Press it.

Then press update word list from internetreferee.com.

Frequency:

This problem only occurs on a new installation when the internetreferee server is being heavily used. This problem only occurs on version 1.05272007. All later releases this issue has been fixed.
